Glad Tidings Family Church

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me;

Because the LORD hath anointed me to preach

Good tidings unto the meek;

He hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives,

And the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD,

And the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion,

To give unto them beauty for ashes,

The oil of joy for mourning,

The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;

That they might be called trees of righteousness,

The planting of the LORD,

That he might be glorified (Isaiah 61:1-3).

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

The facility the church meets in was built in 1926 as the Women’s Club of Asheville. Over the years, there followed several other owners and operations including a private school for children.

Beginning in 1967, the building became home of Elbethel Church. Elbethel was a body of believers deeply rooted in the overcoming truths of the gospel. We purchased the building from them in 1984 and for six years God built up a strong Christ-centered Bible school. Many of these students have gone on to be church planters and leaders.

For the past twenty-six years. Glad Tiding’s vision has been to be a Christ-centered fellowship of believers who are devoted to glorifying Christ. Our mission is to be devoted to prayer, Bible study and its application to personal development, fellowship and communion. We place great value on glorifying God through praise, worship and thankfulness.

We have taken up Christ’s command, “…All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen" (Matthew 28:18-20 KJV).
